Fireworks spook horse to its death
So, it’s that time of year again. It’s the credit crunch, we have no money, but we’ll gladly watch hundreds of our hard earned dollars go up in smoke. What madness!!
However, with firework parties abounding, it is time to think about our horses and other pets of course.
The problem with loud noises and startling explosions, experts say, lies in a horse’s genetic wiring. Horses’ hearing is more than twice as sensitive as humans’; they can hear the ultrasonic squeak of a bat. Their eyes can detect slight motions almost all the way around them.
When faced with a crisis, they run.
Sadly that’s what happened to a horse named Kracker with devasting results.
